Yutaka Kawahito

Biography
Yutaka Kawahito was born and raised in Hiroshima, Japan. He received his MFA in Sculpture from Yale School of Art and has exhibited internationally. Yutaka has been the recipient of residencies and fellowships including Skowhegan School in Maine and Bemis Center in Nebraska. He currently teaches Ceramics at Leeward Community College in Hawai’i.
Artist Statement
The long river of time told by daily ceramic wares never fails to capture my curiosity and spirit. Making and learning within this lineage is focused and of pleasure in so many ways. To center around daily utility is a tuning effort. Unobscured functional beauty that offers both quiet pause and effortless sharing, naturally flows us into the same river.
